My cat Kai likes to drink water from the faucet. We spoil him by allowing him to continue to do so. Hey, it's that or kisses from kitty kai who just drank from the toilet. Silly kitty. He's getting to be a happy fat cat. Steve bought him new toys that makes the place noisy for when kai wants to be his playful self. We're looking for a Rottie as a new pet. I want a rescued one but most I've seen are from Texas. Maybe they deliver. I would like a dog. I enjoyed the German Shepard I got to play with and keep company back in Minnesota.

I now have a money tree!! Steve bought it for me at the SFACEF Rummage Sale because I got irritated about his signed autograph of a Playboy bunny he used to go to high school with. Yes, I will never run out of reason to be insecure or jealous. But he's sweet and humors me when I get silly. Oh, the money tree is supposed to be for good luck so says the ADT guy who sold it to us. We also got a nice framed artwork for a decently good price. I like it. :)

We have the blockbuster thing where you order movies online. So far we've watched Next, Mr. Brooks and now 3:10 to Yuma. More things coming in, but they're more on the manly side. But later on the queue are my girlie flicks. :D I am loving the movie nights. Feeling closer to him everyday. :) I LOVE HIM!!! Shhh. He knows this but yeah..

I'm worried though about someone who's getting sicker.. it makes me sad to be on friendly terms, but I'm probably never going to see them ever again. It is an open wound even a year later and we both feel the same way.

This is going to be a productive week. I have so much to do and catch up with, but I just wanted a little time for myself. :)

I like cats, myself. I believe Kai means, "life" in some languages.

Yes, the movie is pretty good. They had the original flick on tv this week too but we decided not to spoil the movie by watching it.

I love my kitty kai :) I originally called him that because it means Ocean in Hawaiian, and he's like that cool and calm. But that's cool if it means "life" too. Other translations I've seen are spirit, dragon, sea, chicken and food lol it also means love in swahili!! so i love his name =)

Chai is a Hebrew word that means life. Pronounced sort of like kai, only more guttural.

i don't think this is what you're talking about, but the mention of rescue dogs made me think of it... there is this online scam where puppy mill 'breeders' list their dogs on adoption websites (e.g. petfinder.com) in areas outside of where they are located. for example, if i search in my zip code area some supposedly local organization shows up, but once you click on the individual dogs it says they're located in various states and must be delivered.
don't get me wrong, almost all of the organizations listed on there are wonderful and totally legitimate. the crooks usually get flagged really quickly but i thought i would tell you just in case :)

there are a few ways to find a rescue of a specific breed. first, look for breed-specific local rescues, like this one i just found with a quick google: http://wecarerottweilerrescue.homestead.com/

or you could find a local shelter and see if they can put you on a call list for when a rottie does come in.

your best bet would be to go with a breed-specific rescue. often these dogs have been fostered in home environments, so they can tell you their quirks and things like, are they good with cats and/or other dogs.

and while it's always tempting to get a puppy, adult dogs are great because they've already settled into their adult temperaments- no teenage mood swings or personality changes to worry about, not to mention the slightly lower energy level, haha!

Believe me, you can have your choice of age, sex, temperament, anything you want, in picking a rottie and you have have it pretty locally as well.
